We’ve all been there – how we’re going to change our lives, the world, do this, do that. All gung ho, unstoppable and ‘on fire’ to achieve whatever we desire. We’re full of energy, invincible and anything’s possible.
And then something happens – someone pours cold water on our idea, we’re too tired, it’s too cold to get out of a cosy bed, we start worrying about what others’ll think, others want our time and attention….basically, life happens and gets in the way of all our good intentions.
So how do we stay on course and motivated to create a life of our dreams, a life we love? By nurturing, nourishing and feeding the fire of desire that’s lit by the spark of whatever it is we want. A roaring fire of desire gets us through the tough times and fuels the search for solutions to burn through the inevitable obstacles. Just as what we each want is as individual and unique to us, so is what’ll feed and keep our fire burning brightly.
Fires have lives of their own and require differing conditions and fuel at different stages of their evolution. In the beginning, we need to protect, nourish and nurture the initial flames so that they can get a hold and become established. Then they need the right conditions to flourish while also being tended to prevent them from running out of control and becoming destructive.
Last weekend I completed three 10 hour days of training on ‘Dreambuilding’ along with hundreds if not thousands of like minded people which will provide me with plenty of fuel for my fire. Meanwhile the people, communities and groups I engage with daily provide the right conditions through an optimal mix of help, support, encouragement, challenge and accountability to ensure my fire continues to burn brightly. What better than all sitting ‘round the fire sharing stories?
So, community and collaboration are how I nurture and nourish my fire. And what lights my fire? A desire to be happy – which pretty much encompasses all the good stuff in life – and for others to be the same, hence my mission to spread joy in the world!
What lights your fire? And how do you nurture and nourish it? Hit reply and let me know, I’d really love to know,
